Spring Wreath

Despite the less-than-desirable snowfall we had last week, my calendar tells me spring is officially here. There may still be a tiny bit of snow on the ground and the temps hover around the freezing mark, but the days are longer and warmer! To celebrate, I have hung my spring(ish) wreath on our door.

I made this wreath a couple years ago with a grapevine wreath from Michaels, artificial flowers from the dollar store and some raffia. I was inspired by this Pinterest picture, along with this one, this one, and this one

I cut the sprigs of flowers up into shorter individual stems and stuck them into the grapevine. Turns out they held so well that gluing them was not necessary.

After fussing with it for about 5 minutes, I was happy with the arrangement and called it a day. I tied the raffia in a bow and attached it with some floral wire.

To be honest, I usually leave this wreath up until September, when my fall wreath takes over. I haven't come up with a cute enough door decoration idea for the summer months so it stays.

Please disregard our actual door. I'm pretty sure it has not been painted since the house was built tenish years ago. It's on the list of things to do this spring/summer. Unfortunately due to condo rules, we are unable to paint our front door any colour we want. It must remain this bland shade of greige to match all the other townhouses in our survey. Lame sauce. But at least I can hang this up for a little happiness to greet me after work everyday!

We ventured out across the border to do some shopping in the States. Since Target has closed up shop in Canada, I have been seriously missing my fix. It's one of those stores that has everything and then some. These two Threshold items really caught my attention.

How cute, right? I have zero purpose for them, but they sure are fun. I ended up getting this top and a few things to fill my niece's Easter basket with.

The best part of States shopping is always the food that isn't available here. We dined at Firehouse.

The turkey cranberry is the best sub in the world. Hands down. No question.

Saturday was pretty low key. We started out the day nice and slow with a yummy breakfast followed by couch potatoing

We eventually peeled ourselves off the couch to do chores and run some errands. So exciting. Saturday night we stayed in, cracked open a bottle of wine, and played a riveting game of "throw the sockball in the hamper".

Mike, who has been playing baseball and basketball all his life, was royally beaten by yours truly! Total fluke but possibly the highlight of the weekend. It can get pretty intense with how competitive we get.

Yesterday was Draft Day for Mike's fantasy baseball team which meant the house was filled with boys and looked like this:

I whipped up some snacks and got out of there. I spent the afternoon with my mom and brother playing video games and skyping with our family in Poland.

Overall a wonderful weekend. What did you guys do?

Friday Favourite: Karmen Pumps

I am presenting the award for best work shoes to...

The Karmen pump from Payless Shoesource.

I bought these shoes last summer for work and I can't sing their praises enough. Heels and I usually have a love-hate relationship. I love them for half an hour and then my feet start crying. But these guys are amazing. I literally wear them all day at work and feel great. I don't need to kick them off under my desk or request a foot massage from Hubs afterwards. This is attributed to "a cushiony memory foam insole" according to their website. The heel height is work appropriate -- about 3 inches.

And the price might be the best part -- $19.99. *mic drop*

So I got two pairs. The nude and the black, since both can be paired with just about any outfit. I am totally open to getting more colours.

Do you have a favourite shoe for work? Are you a heels or flats kind of gal? I figure, once I'm 80 I won't want to be wearing heels so, carpe diem.

Have a great weekend!

The S Word

I can't, guys. I mean... wtf.

I realize that we live in Canada (insert igloo stereotype here) but since day light savings time, I have completely switched to spring mode. The weather here has actually been pretty decent and I was even able to bust out my flats sans socks a couple times already. I have already put up our spring decorations. And then this happened. Logically, I get it. It's only March 26th, but mentally I was not prepared for this.

I don't expect the snow to stay for a while as they are calling for above-freezing temps in the next few days. But until then I guess it's still winter. Womp.

What's it like where you are? Anyone else dealing with this? Tell me I'm not alone.

A Little About Me

Thanks for coming back!

I didn't know the best way to formally introduce myself and then I stumbled across this basic "get to know me" tag. So here we go!

  1. How old are you?
  2. Where are you from?
I was born in Poland. My parents and I immigrated to Canada when I was 5 and the rest of my family lives there. I have lived in Ontario since then.
  3. Are you married?
Yes. I got married in August of 2012 to my best friend and the most wonderful man in the world! Mike and I met in university in 2007 and I fell in love with his kind heart, sense of humour, and good looks.
  4. Do you have any kids?
Nope. Mike and I both lived at home until we got married so we are enjoying a few years of being just a married couple. We wanted to take a few years to be selfish, do some travelling, and really strengthen our relationship. That said, I am so excited for when the time comes for me to be a mommy!
  5. Any pets?
We have two kitty cats named Boomer and Lenny. They are besties and we are crazy about them.
  6. What is your work situation?
I work full-time in finance. I have been where I am for just over 3 years and I really like my job.
  7. What are your passions?
I love reading, real estate, and decorating. I'm a planner and a list-maker but I still try to live life to the fullest. YOLO, baby! I am passionate about nice weather, coffee, reality TV, and nail polish.
Lenny Benny on the left and Boomer on the right.
They are totally posing.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I've been feeling inspired to start a blog for a while now and despite having no idea how these things run, I thought I would give it a shot. I'd like for this to be a space where I can jot down my thoughts, chronicle my days and hopefully connect with some awesome people in the blogosphere.

Blogging is far from an innovative idea so don't expect any ground breaking material here. I'm treating this as an online scrapbook where I can look back on how I spent my days. I have been reading other people's blogs for a couple years and it looks really fun. So I'm diving in.

Thanks for reading along!
